Intro
GLSSWRKS is known for making bold, anime-inspired mousepads, but with the Polarity, they've gone in a whole new direction. This is their first glass pad that doesn't have flashy art on it. Instead, it has a clean, simple design that puts performance and elegance ahead of looks.
The Polarity is built for players who've been hesitant about glass. The ion-coated surface and its properties, combined with the balanced glide, are designed to make that transition feel natural.

Unboxing
The Polarity comes in a sturdy box with a magnetic flip lid. Inside, the pad is wrapped in quality foam to keep it protected during shipping. The foam and box together make it feel like something you could carry around without worrying about the pad getting damaged. You also get the 16 GLSSWRKS PTFE dot skates and a cleaning cloth in the box.
Design
The design of this mousepad is one of its most interesting features. This is the first GLSSWRKS mousepad that doesn't have the same anime art style as all of their other mousepads. Instead, we have a very simple, clean design that doesn't try to get people's attention. In a space full of loud designs, the simplicity stands out.
It's a confident pivot for a brand that built its identity on bold visuals. It fits right in for people who like their setup to be clean and free of distractions. There isn't anything else that catches your eye. Just the surface and how well it works.
The Polarity also has the Hana's improved 2nd Gen 2.5D edgeless design. The edges and corners are rounded and polished so that the pad feels almost like it's not there when you use it for a long time. This not only makes it more comfortable, but it also makes the premium, minimalist look better by getting rid of sharp edges and raised lips that could catch your skin.
The silicone base grips the desk firmly and combined with the weight of the glass, the pad stays put without any effort on your part. Most glass pads tend to hold position well in general, so this is less a standout feature and more just the standard done right.
Surface and Performance
The Polarity is a great balance between performance and style. It's not too fast, but it's also not too slow. It feels balanced in a way that's easy to get used to.
The surface is glass, so the speed is there by default. Glide is smooth and low-friction, but the Polarity makes sure that's not the whole story. There is a slight drag on the skates that gives the surface some character. It carries a cloth-like feedback without the resistance, which keeps things grounded and intentional. Every small movement feels deliberate.
That combination makes the Polarity a strong first step into glass if you've been hesitant to make the jump. The approachability is there without sacrificing what makes glass worth trying in the first place.
That balance translates well across different games. Whether you're making tight adjustments in Counter-Strike or Valorant, or tracking fast movements in Apex Legends or Overwatch, the Polarity holds up on both ends.

Leading with the coating is a bold move. In most circles, coatings on glass are seen as a weakness, something to be avoided. The Polarity bets on it being a strength.
That coating is what makes the experience on the Polarity so unique. It shapes how the surface feels and how well it handles moisture. The pad never felt off in my room, which usually has a humidity level of 30 to 40 percent. I didn't have to wipe it down or grab a sleeve like you do with most other glass pads. That consistency comes from the coating doing what it's supposed to do.
That said, some people who live in very humid areas or sweat a lot will still find that using an arm sleeve gives them the most consistent experience.
The coating also plays a role in keeping the surface clean. Coming from the WALLHACK VA-005, where dust and dirt buildup was a constant annoyance, the Polarity is a breath of fresh air. It just stays clean with minimal maintenance.
Coatings tend to get a bad reputation for wearing down over time, and with traditional finishes, that concern is justified. But ion bonding is fundamentally different. Instead of sitting on top of the glass, it's chemically integrated into the surface itself. It doesn't wear in the way typical coatings do, and it's far more resistant to long-term degradation.
Over extended use, the surface can still gradually change, but you're looking at a much slower, less noticeable shift rather than the clear breakdown people usually associate with coated pads.

GLSSWRKS Skates
The Polarity comes with 16 GLSSWRKS PTFE dot skates, the same hardened PTFE skates that will soon be sold separately. These are GLSSWRKS's take on the GHOSTGLIDES Cyclone Pros, made slightly larger than the originals, so if you've used those before, the feel will be familiar. They carry that same balance of smoothness and speed that makes the Cyclone Pros work well across both glass and cloth, which makes them a natural fit for the Polarity.
Each one has a Poron foam backing that cushions the contact between skate and glass. That backing does a solid job of dampening the usual glass skating noise, which makes this one of the quieter glass setups out there. The glide stays smooth and even across the surface, and the hardened material should hold up longer than regular PTFE over extended use.
That said, skate choice on glass is personal. The included dot skates are a strong default, but depending on your game and aiming style, you might find that full-size skates give you a different kind of control over your movements. UHMW-PE is also worth considering if you want a more stable, control-oriented feel with a slightly different glide character.
Final Verdict
The GLSSWRKS Polarity is one of the easiest to use and most versatile glass mousepads on the market right now. It successfully tones down the rough speed and inconsistency that many people think of when they think of glass, while still keeping the smooth, low-friction glide that makes glass so appealing in the first place.
The Polarity is a great choice if you want your first glass pad or something that can do a lot of different things without needing a lot of care. It won't be the fastest or most controlled option on the market, but its balanced design combined with it's coating make it a great daily driver for competitive FPS players and anyone who wants a clean, distraction-free setup.
Highly recommended for players switching from cloth or anyone who wants a glass experience that's easy to adapt to from day one.
